MOTIVATION TIPS TO KICK START YOUR FITNESS JOURNEY

We begin the year setting realistic fitness goals, we get our fitness gears ready, spirit lifted and even consulted top fitness professionals on advice for effective and challenging weight loss exercises.
So it’s time!! “Let’s get this fat out of the way” you say!. First day and second day , you smoothly pulled through a 45 mins workout. After taking a rest day on the third day , on the fourth day you attempt to work out and succeeded for only less than 20 mins hoping to try on the fifth day. Fifth day, sixth, seventh and even the rest of the month you keep procrastinating “ohh work, am so busy, no time”  and all kind of excuses you can come up with.

Whatever your fitness goal is , once you have made a decision , try to stick by it. If nothing changes, nothing changes. Not to worry, you are not alone anymore, these workout motivation tips will get you from GOAL TO REALITY.

  1. HAVE FUN: In wanting to build a consistent lifestyle pattern, stick to what you love. So I advise my clients to explore different exercises, do more of those you love and less of those you don’t . Have fun all the way and don’t forget variety is the spice of life.
  2. KEEP YOUR WORKOUT SHORT:  This one applies to newbies a lot. Learn to keep your workout simple and short. When I train new clients I discover they sometimes want to train for hours at the beginning. It is not about how long, it is about the quality of your workout. A HIIT for 20 mins will get your heart raced up and even burn more calories than brisk walking for an hour or more. So if you feel less motivated, make it short and get done with it in no time. It’s better than doing nothing.
  3.  SET REALISTIC GOALS: It's very realistic and healthy to lose 2-4 kg in a month with a nutrition advice and consistent workout routine. It’s almost impossible to lose 6-10 kg in a month when you follow same fitness routine. Progress isn’t instant, one workout doesn’t get you in shape too.
  4. PUT TOGETHER AN AMAZING WORKOUT PLAYLIST: Music can be an incredible powerful mood booster. Load your smart phone with your favorite songs and get your headset on when it’s time to exercise.
  5. JOIN A GYM: The thought of money been debited from your account by that gym you signed up for can be a motivation too, oh well its great to spend wisely too.
  6. JOIN A GROUP CLASS / GET A WORKOUT BUDDY:  A group class is a remarkable way to help you stay motivated. Most times you need to be told what to do when it comes to your exercise routine. You get to tap from every other person’s energy and you realize you are eager to have another group session blast. Socializing as you sweat can be so much fun.
  7. REWARD YOURSELF: It takes weeks to actually see real changes . A kg of weight loss or muscle gain is a reason to reward yourself .  Jump into a pair of new cloak and celebrate with friends.
  8. SHOP YOUR FAVORITE FITNESS GEARS : When you look good you feel good. For some persons stepping into the gym with a killer gym outfit gives them a boost of self love to pull through a rigorous workout routine.
  9. SCHEDULE A WORKOUT TIME: Try to fit in an hour of exercise into your weekly schedule . Chances are that you will definitely jump off the bed at the sound of that alarm or at dusk when the kids are off to bed.
