The Biggest Fitness Challenge – MOTIVATION
It is important we take care of our bodies so we can live
long, vibrant, active and a healthy life. That is why in today’s session I would
love to talk about your greatest fear, reason why you haven’t started out on
that fitness journey or maybe why you stopped after a few months trial.
Setting aside time to exercise can be a huge challenge
for most of us , sometimes we find ourselves starting out awesomely well only
to give up after 3 to 4 trials. All effort to start again proves abortive.
We
sometimes find an excuse that’s quite cheap and lame “the I don’t have time
syndrome”. No one ever has time for such activity that leaves our heart racing,
our muscles sore, feeling of instantaneous tiredness etc . We can only create the
time, that’s like the first phase of motivation. CREATE TIME.
There are basically two parts that makes up our motivation:
-Intrinsic and Extrinsic motivation-
Intrinsic motivation comes from internal states i.e. enjoyment
or personal satisfaction. So even if
there’s a magical solution to weight loss without exercising, you will still
find yourself actively engaging your body purely for the joy that the activity
brings you.
Extrinsic motivation is an external factor that drives you
whether it is to decrease your blood pressure, help you fit into that skinny jeans,
or for an upcoming sporting event.
So basically that motivation you get from that personal
trainer of yours can only last you if you decide to be intrinsically motivated
on the long run. So it all begins with YOU, find a reason and you know its fine
to halt along the way(fall out) but then again , the same reason (been
intrinsically motivated ) will keep you going for a very long time, maybe a
life time. So in our next session we will be talking about tips to building and maintaining motivation. And just for the record, I AM INTRINSICALLY MOTIVATED ''smiles""
